About

In 2005, Niman Ranch alum David Samiljan opened Baron’s Quality Meats & Seafood in the Alameda Marketplace to offer only the highest-quality and best-tasting sustainably sourced meat and poultry. In 2016, he added a second location in a historic space in San Francisco’s Noe Valley neighborhood.

Named after his great grandfather’s kosher butcher shop in Brooklyn, Baron’s was the first in the Bay Area to specialize in meat, poultry and seafood that is humanely raised and free of hormones and antibiotics. A classically trained chef, a few of Samiljan’s signature products include “Black Dragon” marinated tri-tip (with a “very secret, secret ingredient”) and house recipe sausages, made entirely by hand.

Back to School with Nia Rashidchi

The word ‘impossible’ seems to be passé for many, especially the working parents who have been put in the odd, acrobatic position of simultaneously working, facilitating distance-learning, conducting mental health and wellness checks, and providing out-of-class enrichment for children in what seems like a constantly shifting new-normal. According to Nia Rashidchi of Castro Valley Unified School District, these realities have been top-of-mind in planning how to provide quality instruction for kids in the fall.
