About

EMPowered Cycles (Electro-Magnetically-Powered Cycles) located in Castro Valley CA, is owned and operated by Matt Hughes, a veteran who spent 6 years in the U.S Navy as an advanced aviation electronics technician (awarded Sailor of the Quarter, 1996).

 

After leaving the Navy (1993-1999), Matt gained experience working as an electronics technician for Nokia, then as a manufacturing engineering tech at Motorola, then as an engineering technician for a defense contractor specializing in weapons control systems for Bradley A3 fighting vehicles. He has nearly 25 years of electronics and manufacturing experience to date. Since 2012 he has personally converted over 800 bikes to electric for satisfied customers in the San Francisco Bay Area and has helped nearly 3000 online customers with DIY ebike conversions.
