We are a retail bakery specializing in hand crafted morning pastries and artisan breads. Julien Wagner, an award-winning chef with experience at top restaurants in Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, most recently spent a decade deep into crafting artisanal bread and pastries at Feel Good Bakery in Alameda. Seven Hills Baking Company, his first solo venture, will drive all who pass through the front entrance of the Castro Valley Marketplace crazy with the scent of freshly baked bread.
On top of the classic baguettes and other French loaves he has perfected over the years, Julien will feature nourishing whole and sprouted grains on his bread menu, sandwiches to take away, and laminated croissants and Danish pastries.

Like its modern descendant, the old Eden Hospital that once stood on Lake Chabot road was one of the most recognizable buildings, if not the most recognizable, in all of Castro Valley. In this edition of our Castro Valley History Series, we’ll take a look at the old Eden Hospital building and its important role in our community.
Though recognized today as one of Castro Valley’s main outdoor hotspots, the man-made Lake Chabot reservoir was closed to recreational usage for over half of its existence. In this edition of our Castro Valley history series, we’ll examine the origins of Lake Chabot as well as the dedicated workers who made its utility to the greater East Bay a reality.
