Some describe specific holidays or times of year to be the “giving season” but for this week’s Outstanding Community Helper, Todd Anglin, fundraising and giving back is a year-round, non-stop extra-curricular activity. Todd was nominated by members of the community spanning several of the nonprofits and community organizations in which he is an impassioned participant, leader and team player.
School may be over for this year, but dedication to education and resources for Castro Valley’s students is a year-round commitment for this week’s Outstanding Community Helper, Shelli Sherman. Shelli was nominated by fellow CVUSD parents and members of the Castro Valley Educational Foundation, of which Shelli was recently president.

This week we honor the extraordinary community contributions of Reverend Dr. Arlene Nehring of Eden United Church of Christ.
Arlene was nominated particularly in recognition of her work with church’s community partnership Comida Para Cherryland, which has been providing resources to the community starting almost a decade ago.
This week, we honor Stanton teacher Meghan Kelly. We heard from parents and teachers alike that if there’s a program in need of a sponsor, Meghan is the first to raise her hand.
We’ve been working hard behind closed doors to bring the community into this special environment that so many locals have put their hearts, labor, and skill into building.
